*Lols slightly* Your story is both funny and sad, but it's a good example of how the WTS screws kids' minds up.
I mean, that subject shouldn't be that big of a deal unless it truly becomes an addiction for someone. Otherwise, leave it alone.
at the moment i don't have the wt cd program up, but when i can bring it up, i'll post some.. .
also, articles which include a paragraph here or there that are directed towards children or teens count as well.. articles that come to mind for me first are all the articles dealing with (gasp) masturbation.
and one poster here recently posted some parts from a young people ask article about dating, which was very funny.

I hope this topic hasn't been "done" yet.
This is important for me because I've always had those articles and the YPA books shoved in my face. "Read this. Jehovah knows what's best for you". "See, these girls are just like you. They're your peers. And they're completely normal." "Always read these, that's what they're for." "They're help you to deal with life".
Yeah...no.
The articles about cutting never helped. They gave no real comfort or any good info. I felt patronized. The masturbation/sex ones made me feel guilty.
And let me say, My Book of Bible Stories scared me a lot. I asked my JW parent why the little baby was being killed in the flood when i was little twice. She couldn't give an answer other than, essentially "His mommy didn't listen to Jehovah". Listening to the Great Teacher (yes, I had the old version, the less disturbing one) was annoying. I HATED it. I thought the writing AND the reading (when i listened to it on cassette) was SO CONDESCENDING! Ugh.
Yeah, I've whined about this all before. A lot of us have. But I'd love to have a nice long thread specifically for it. :) It might be interesting.
witnesses got me out of bed this morning.
i was too sleepy to say anything and the guy was very nice and friendly, so i just took the magazines and smiled.. a couple of absolutely awesome graphics from the awake:.
thanks to the writing department for brightening my afternoon.
God they ARE patronizing. What self-assuming asses. The graphics are lame too. No teen would like those.
Learning is bad. Got it. Thanks WT.
i have a new article at http://www.jwfacts.com/watchtower/birthdays.php outlining why the watchtower stance against birthdays is wrong.
there have been a number of threads on jwn discussing this, and the article collates and summarises the points raised in these threads.
please feel free to point out any errors in grammar or logic.
GREAT post! Really good reasoning, well-written.
The greatest day of my life was the birth of my son; the greatest wonderment, and happiness. Every day I marvel at him and his progression. Could I honestly tell him that I cannot celebrate his birthday, because “the day of his death is greater than the day of his life”? Could I explain that I cannot honour his birth in case he goes wayward in the future? Such a concept does nothing more then reinforce the conditional nature of a Jehovah’s Witness parents love towards their children.
Not only does this doctrine cause undue anxiety to young Witness followers, it also alerts one to the power Watchtower leaders have, being able to convince its follower’s en masse to believe whatever it writes, regardless of how little Biblical support there is.
I really like that part.
howdy guys and girls!.
how many of you have heard the jehovah's witness urban legend about the demonised teddy bear?.
if you're from north london and were a witness during the late eighties and early nineties, there's a good chance you would have heard it.. i was lucky enough to have played a part in the actual account!.
Lol@ still thinking. I'd buy that.
this comment was found in the august, 2012 awake.
students who cheat are like a fake brand-namewristwatch that only looks good.
this seems a rather odd thing to say considering jws should not be materialistic.. generally most fake brands are copying expensive designer brands otherwise they wouldn't bother making them.
Bad analogy. Sheesh.
trading insults happens among kids all the time.. intellectual development hasn't progressed to the point where they can present contrary ideas and opinions with persuasive appeal to reasons, facts and logic.. "i know you are; but what am i?".
"your momma's so fat....".
so, they fall back on childish mocking, provocation and personal attack.. as we grow older and have more education and sophistication our minds should mature---or so you'd think!.
Ah, Farkel, why do you bother? You are a nerdy 15YO, I'm a psychopath, talesin's a psycho...hey, it's cool. If that's what they think, it must be true.

Lol, talesin! You're no Psycho. :)
Someone on here once suggested that I was psychopathic (the same one who told me to get off this site)- I have no idea why. I believe it was the same poster who implied that I may be bipolar (I THINK they said bipolar, or perhaps it was another mental illness). Perhaps it was another poster though.
It upset me at the time, but looking back, it seems awfully silly. I'm crazy and all, but I'm neither bipolar nor psychopathic, as far as I know...but then again, I'm fully aware that strangers on the net have so much more insight into my personality and mental conditions than I would. ;)
So I guess if you're "psycho" and I'm psychopathic, we'd make a great team.
wtbs says to contact their legal dept if suspected child abuse is suspected.
in md, you are a mandatory reporter if a health worker, educator, human service worker, or police officer.
so what if you are a mandatory reporter and a jw, what then?
That's horrible. I don't understand how that can be a law.
Then again, it doesn't matter. The WTS acts like they think it's bad that the Catholic Church does it, so they are hypocrites to do so themselves.
But I'm curious: Are they not OBLIGATED, or are they not ALLOWED to disclose this info under those circumstances? Either way, they should (they disobey the law when it suits them, anyway! Would a kind god want them to disclose abuse?), obviously, but if it's the former, then it's even worse, because, legally, they have a choice.
I'm sorry; I can't seem to wrap my head completely around all of this.
